SBM Offshore and Hawke Transit System join forces to revolutionise FPSO shipbuilding in China with Fast4Ward® programme
Fast4Ward® is a series of 7 FPSO vessels built for SBM Offshore in some of the most important shipyards in China (SWS & CMHI). The F4W vessel has more deck space than a standard FPSO, allowing it to accommodate up to 50,000 tonnes of operating platforms (subject to specific reservoir characteristics) and future tie-backs and storage of up to 2.3 million barrels. The FPSO has a service life of 30 years of uninterrupted operation, is suitable for internal turret, external turret or dispersed tie-back configurations. Hawke Transit System (HTS) was selected as the only brand specified for Multi Cable / Pipe Transit (MCT) by actively collaborating with SBM and the shipyard builders on this pioneering programme, FPSO Liza Destiny Fast4Ward H1468, with the design, manufacture and supply of our cable and pipe sealing system (MCT). A 100% modular system With Hawke Transit System’s unique three-piece packing (and compression tool) finishing a cable system seal is quick and easy. No pre-compression time is needed as the entire installation can be done in one step. Sustainable and internationally approved As each Hawke plug covers a diameter range of 3-4mm there is no handling or material waste required during installation. On the other hand, the sealing systems for marine applications are designed and manufactured to comply with the Marine Equipment Directive “MED-2014/90/EU”. We also have Ex certificates and production quality assurance issued by Lloyd’s Register Verification, as well as product certificates issued by different classification societies. Inspectable once installed Faced with an extreme situation, an installation error can have terrible consequences for the occupants of the space and for the entire construction. With this in mind, Hawke Transit System developed a color-coding system that makes it easy for the installer to check that the installation has been done correctly. In this system, all of our plugs have their faces colour-coded, which ensures that each size of each plug always matches the diameter of the cable/pipe to be sealed. This color coding also allows the inspector to identify without the possibility of error that the blocks have been correctly selected for each size of sealed cable/pipe.
