HTS contributes to the most ambitious standardized FPSO program on the market
The Fast4Ward FPSO Program, developed by SBM Offshore, aims to revolutionize the delivery of floating production, storage, and offloading units (FPSOs). By applying a standardized approach, the program accelerates deployment, reduces engineering time, and lowers risk across major offshore energy projects.
Within this context, HTS was selected to provide sealing systems for multiple modules and critical zones of the FPSOs. These systems protect cable and pipe penetrations against water, gas, and fire — crucial in offshore environments, where high humidity, salt exposure, continuous vibration, and fire risks are part of daily operations.
Harsh environments and continuous operation
FPSOs operate at sea, for years, with minimal downtime or opportunity for repairs. This means every system — even the most discreet — must work with long-term reliability. Marine conditions present specific challenges: salt spray, corrosion, wave motion, condensation, and pressure variation can all affect equipment and structures.
In this setting, cable and pipe entries must remain tightly sealed to prevent leaks, electrical failures, and gas ingress. At the same time, these entry points must allow future modifications without compromising the overall protection.

HTS’s sealing solution in the Fast4Ward Program
HTS delivered a certified modular mechanical sealing system, engineered specifically for offshore use. The system enables safe and durable sealing in bulkheads, technical decks, control panels, and confined spaces — even under demanding mechanical and environmental stress.
Its clean, chemical-free installation, combined with resistance to vibration and structural movement, made it especially suitable for FPSOs. Designed with long-term operation in mind, the system also offers easy adjustability and low maintenance.
HTS worked closely with engineering and construction teams to define configurations, confirm sizing, and supervise on-site installations. This close collaboration helped meet Fast4Ward’s tight delivery schedules without compromising technical quality or safety performance.
Results and client benefits
HTS systems were integrated without incident and successfully passed pressure, fire, and salt spray testing. The ability to adjust or expand the system without full replacement proved especially valuable for long-term operations.
Moreover, the standardized design allowed for consistent implementation across different FPSO units, improving engineering efficiency and reducing lead times for future vessels in the program.
Practical engineering for onboard safety
In offshore environments, safety is everything. Even the smallest system must be designed for durability under harsh conditions. HTS provided not only a trusted sealing solution but also hands-on technical support, always focused on one goal: enabling safe and continuous FPSO operation.
